President - Barth Doroshuk:
Barth W. Doroshuk
President and Chief Executive Officer
Safe Living Incorporated
Barth Doroshuk grew up in a US Navy family living everywhere on the East Coast and West Coast of the United States but never in between. For the last twenty years he has lived in Maryland where he was born.
Barth's career has been a series of "First of a Kind" successes beginning in his early Navy days working with theories of engineering, reliability, and availability life cycles of various systems in the military. These efforts were used in testimony by the then Chief of Naval Operations to Congress regarding weapon system readiness. Barth went on to complete his service in the Nuclear Submarine Service qualifying in Submarines and as Naval Nuclear Propulsion Engineer.
Upon leaving the Navy, Barth continued his work in life cycle engineering with commercial nuclear power plants. This work resulted in Barth eventually moving to Maryland and completing the first license renewal of a commercial nuclear power plant in the World - Calvert Cliffs. These efforts set the stage for the rest of the US nuclear industry to follow. As a result of the nuclear industry license renewals, 20% of the United States energy supply has been preserved for 20 more years. Barth's efforts assisted in the re-birth of nuclear technology as a safe and viable source of clean energy.
Barth continued his "First-of-a-Kind" work by designing and building the Washington ENT Group, PLLC. This is the first, all-digital, medical practice in the world. The Washington ENT Group's accomplishments were recognized by the medical industry and were documented in significant industry publications and by the national and international press. The White House, Congress, and Health and Human Services Administration recognized Barth's efforts as a model for the private medical sector.
The efforts to digitize, or create virtual offices, resulted in yet another "First-of-a-Kind" effort - Newport. Newport is a world-class provider of safe, secure, reliable, high quality telecommunications and data management center services. Newport's services include virtual office environments; local, forward, and remote medical and disaster assistance; disaster control and recovery; and long term digital information services and data storage. Barth's vision of virtual offices resulted in this new organization that serves numerous customers worldwide today. Newport's capability to provide short or long term virtual office environments makes Newport a preferred resource in today's economic and technological business environment.
In 2006, Barth became deaf. After researching the resources available, Barth created two companies to assist the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and Hearing World. Safe Living Incorporated was established in 2006 to provide products and services related to personal safety. The mission of the Company is to establish sound personal practices, organize information, and suggest methods that could be used by the Deaf World (estimated to be nearly 100 million people world-wide) to communicate successfully and with dignity with the Hearing World.
Barth also created a non-profit corporation, Safe Living Association. The Association is responsible for establishing strategic plans to carry out the charitable activities which include obtaining private donations, grants, and providing educational opportunities such as scholarships, to promote personal safety and improved communications and therefore improved Quality of Life. Safe Living Association is also focusing on the world infrastructure of services so that there is more awareness and mutual respect between the Deaf World and the Hearing World with regard to personal safety.
Barth is a Lifetime member of the US Naval Academy Alumni Association and The American Nuclear Society. Barth and his companies are also individual and corporate members of the National Association of the Deaf and the National Safety Council. Barth is Fluent in English and American Sign Language.
Barth received his undergraduate degree (B.S. in Marine Engineering) from the Naval Academy, completed most of the necessary course work for an MBA from George Washington University, and attends continuing education in Deaf Studies at Gallaudet University.
